DESCRIPTION
CPS Model BP2595 is a two-quadrant HV power supply with -50 to +50 kV output range. It is housed in a standard 19-inch rack-mount module, with USB and HV output connectors on the front and 120/220 VAC input on the rear. The module may be controlled from its front panel or via USB. Polarity switchingTwo independent 50 kV generators (one positive, one negative) are used to provide optimal performance over the full bipolar output voltage range. A proprietary HV relay selects the appropriate generator and routes it to the module's HV output connector. When the target polarity is changed, the module automatically disables the HV generators and, when the output has discharged (< 200 V), toggles the relay and re-enables the generators. The total polarity switching time is proportional to the output discharge time — when fully discharged, the output polarity will change in less than 500 ms. Control modesA front panel switch allows selection of Local or Remote control mode. In Local mode, the module is controlled from the front panel. In Remote mode, the module can be controlled by an external computer which is connected to the BP2595 with a USB cable. Meter data, setpoint and power supply status are always readable over USB, regardless of the selected control mode. A unique USB address can be assigned to every BP2595 via a rotary address switch, thus enabling a single computer to monitor and control up to eight BP2595 modules. SoftwareCPS offers a powerful application program interface (API) for model BP2595. The API provides functions that enable a USB-connected computer to monitor and control all aspects of module operation. API functions are thread-safe to ensure reliable operation in multi-threaded applications. Event-driven applications are facilitated by the API's blocking functions, which allow programs to wait for meter updates and status/setpoint changes without polling. SPECIFICATIONS
